M's story.
M came on to my rescue list about 4 years ago. He was described as a complete nightmare.
Already in his second home he had spent a large part of his life wandering Salisbury Plain with no supervision and little time spent with him. He was a complete rebel dog, escaping at every opportunity, even running away whilst out on a walk. He was blamed for killing deer and anything else small and furry he came across.
On assessment I found a strong minded but very affectionate, extremely responsive young dog who was desperately in need of some leadership in life and a chance to be part of a 'pack' rather than being banished to the conservatory until he was required to fit the sleek image of the young professional couple who owned him.
A home was found in a very rural area of North Scotland where it was felt he would have the space he needed with a very down to earth, sensible family who wanted him to become one of them. Within a week I was taking phone calls from a delighted family asking why he had come with so many dire warnings! He has thrived in their devoted but sensible care, has never tried to escape, never chased anything and took an orphan lamb to bed once and washed it!
This outcome is why I give hours of my time to Rescue.
